Description of license types

Authors list

In Skolon there are four different license types, you'll find a description of each license type below. NOTE! If customers use license pools to assign licenses in Skolon, only one seat/license is used per user. For more information on license pools see this documentation:  https://support.skolon.com/sv/kb/licenspooler

Single license
A singel license is for one user. If it's for a student or teacher is not really relevant in Skolon as such, however as a partner it is possible to dedicate the license to either student or teacher if you have a need for this. In general the school administrator handles single licenses by assigning them to individual users. It is also possible to assign them to specific classes or groups. If a new student enters such a group it may be possible to assign the license automatically. (There is a risk that the license gets assigned to a user that already have a license, if the user belongs to several groups that are using these licenses. If so, the administrator gets a warning).

Class/group license
Class or group license: Usually is intended for a group of about 30 users (definetly more than 10 users). You can restrict the the class license to a certain number of users. A common set up is 30 students and 2 teachers.  When the Skolon administrator assigns this license to the group all member get access to the license. If a new user is added to the group they will automatically get access to the license. An excess of licenses in the group cannot be assigned to users outside the group. For example, if the license is restricted to 30 students and there are only 25 students in the group, the remaining "seats" of the license can not be used.  If the limit is lower than the number of users in the group, it is not possible to select which students who will get a "seat" from the license.

School license
A school license must be assigned by an administrator and all users then get the tool in "My collection". A new new student or teacher that is added at the school gets the license automatically.  As a partner you cannot restrict the number of users for this license.  This is only possible for class /group licenses.

Organisation license
The organisation license must be assigned to each school by an organisation administrator. The organisation administrator cannot select users at the school. As a partner you cannot restrict the number of users for this license.  This is only possible for class /group licenses.
Note! Adminsitrators always gets an email informing them that there are licenses to assign.
